Ruby's prescence in the 1st XI has never been in doubt. Although Fordy did push him to the limits of penmanship last season. Rubes likes it best when the pens are all over the place and the tins are rattling along. A fine bowler in his day, and the nickname is more a reference to his run up looking like 4 sticks of rhubarb than a penchant for fine eastern cusine (which he also likes). Also the club historian, he can often be found in the trenches in Ypres, attending the Last Post at the Menin Gate, and Hommelling furiously in many a Flanders bar! He's on the MCC scorers panel, loves an ale, a bit of jazz and the odd magnificent guitar solo! |
